THE NAPIER STORY

The concept of the ‘Napier Cake Stand’ was formed in 1970 by Peter Alderman, a master baker for 35 years, running a family owned business. He felt there was a need for a lightweight cake stand that was easy to transport to wedding venues yet was designed in such a way that it did not detract from the cake. and that it was the cake in the limelight not the stand.

The design was produced by a design engineer who was involved in the design of the first Hillman Imp. Together they produced the Napier Cake Stand which due to its clean cut simple lines has stood the test of time.

The proportions incorporated in the design of both the round and square cake stands are those used in the architecture of the ancient Greeks, which over the centuries has proved to be the most perfect and pleasing to the eye.

The clean surfaces of this simple design are angled in such a way that they reflect the light ( from table level) in a manner which compliments the design of the cake without detracting from it. Napier Cake Stands were put into production using British manufacturers something we have proudly continued through to today.

Napier continues to be a family enterprise and the reins have been passed to the next generation. With its timeless appeal and ability to complement every type of cake design it will continue to be a welcome addition to any celebration for generations to come.
